The cheesecake, purchased pre-made, was good, as one would expect from Juniors. However, the scampi sauce was disappointingly bland more garlic was definitely needed.įor dessert, I had rice pudding, while my wife had Junior's cheesecake. The bed of pasta beneath the scallops was also well executed. The scallops themselves were also quite good they are "dry" scallops, meaning that they were firm, as scallops come from the shell, and not processed to soak up water to make them flabby and (when sold by the pound) heavier and more expensive. The mussels were wonderful a heaping bowl of well-cooked shellfish in a broth so good that I didn't want to waste it, and ended up eating it with a spoon-althought the dish could be improved by the simple addition of a big slab of garlic bread that could be used to sop up the liquid. We both got the mussels in a creamy pesto sauce as an appetizer, and the scallops scampi as the main course. While we're glad we stopped by, there were dishes that could have been executed better. My wife and I stopped by for restaurant week. It smelt like it to, like you were at the beach at low tide. How would he like to be told he was eating "mud" which I think was all the duck s**t that was in the water from wherever these mussels came from. He apologized but was very nonchalant about the whole thing. When we returned home after being disgusted by the "mud", we called and spoke to the manger Traves. We didn't want to make a scene although we were the first diners there and by that time there were other patrons. ![]() He showed it to the server who came back and said "That's just mud". As he ate it he said it didn't taste right and he saw a mussel that had a disgusting look to it. My husband ordered a seafood dish of Lobster, Mussels, Shrimp, Scallops and Clams over linguine with a red sauce for 31.99. My husband and I went to The Fish Store in Bayport for dinner tonight as we have purchased fish there before, but never ate. Tonight was the worst experience we have had. I'm not happy to write this review, but I must get it out.
